The Unknown

I came into this world on the cold morning of September 10, 1994. I was born in Brgy. Latangan Mulanay, a beautiful town in Quezon Province or so I was told. My parents, Julieta Regalado and Eugenio Funtilar had tried successfully for their fifth child and I just happened to be the lucky one.

My name is Erwin Mark Regalado Funtilar. The majority of my early memories from childhood are somewhat vague, but for the first years of my life, I mostly spent the day either crying or sleeping, as babies do. A year later I began walking around our house, or what I remember as taking a couple steps and then stumbling awkwardly onto the floor. I also began to utter my first spoken words in both English and Tagalog. Most of my vacations included our trips to Marindoque, with the purpose of visiting my grandparents and during Christmas we'd visit my aunty and relatives in Marikina City. It pretty much stayed that way sometime.

I started school when I was five-years-old. In 2000 at the bright age of five, I was enrolled at a local Day Care Center where I would learn children's songs or play in the sandbox all morning and spend my afternoon watching the people that pass along the center. I went to elementary at Mulanay Central School and while I was there, I won an award for perfect attendance. I also won an award for best in Writing when I was on sixth-grade. I remember those times when I got an average of 79% for final grades because of video games. We play video games with my friend Kevin and I use to choose that better than attending those boring classes. I graduated Elementary on April 2007.

At the age of thirteen, I attended Bondoc Peninsula Agricultural High School, and there I also won a couple of awards: one for perfect attendance and two for being a member of the Golden Key Publication. As a teenager I’m not that kind of people who focuses on studying but rather going to school just for fun and comfort that I couldn’t found at home. Sometimes they called me anti-social person who mostly seen at the back of the classroom alone or at the last seats inside. There I meet many best friends not one, not two but eleven best friends. They were Pipo, Kim, Laniel, Axel, Marvin, Gerrico, Leonardo, Ziesler, Justin, Ryan and our best teacher Ma’am Tose. I found my comfort zone on this people who serves as my family in the time of frustration and depression because of such problems that burdened me. We go everywhere even during regular classes, mostly our teacher caught us in the computer shop, so we are the students mostly seen in the guidance office. I graduated with all my friends last April 10 2011.

I applied for entry at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and continued my studies there. I use to choose Bachelor of Elementary Education course and I don’t know why, but I work for it as hard as I can. A hectic period in my teenage years had concluded and I was able to slow down and enjoy my family. I matured quite a bit and built up my self-confidence and independence.  I am now a fourth year student, I plan on finishing school and maybe going to study a Master's Degree at any available School.
